I was so tempted to follow your blog until I saw this post. You may have an understanding of veganism but you clearly do not understand women or feminism and have managed to be very offensive in the process.

This post is embarassing. Upsetting to the vegan women who are not even safe from condesending patriarchal voices telling us not to be offended on an ACTIVIST wedsite, but embarassing to whomever decided this was a worthwhile article to share.

I hate that I got so excited about this blog only to come across a post like this on the first page. Anna pretty much summed it up.

They play into mainstream beauty ideals to sell the cause rather than help people understand why they should go vegan, stop wearing fur, etc. It creates a problem because since these people are basing their decision on something so superficial (like backing "hot girls"), they're less likely to continue caring about animal welfare since they didn't have a more permanent reason to care like basing the decision on personal meaning and actual concern for the animals' welfare.

What's the point of hooking someone into the cause with a hot girl for only one or two months at most? These people don't care about animals. They care about banging some vegan chick by pretending to give a shit about animal rights.

Sex certainly sells, but there are complimentary ways of selling with sex and derogatory ones. This is probably the most complimentary way I've seen in our culture.

I don't agree, there are many vegan eco-feminists who have problems with PeTA's tactics. The woman is a piece of meat figuratively, presented for our consumption. It pits feminism against speciesism, which is why I have a big problem with PeTA. Vegans of Color blog has a good number of well-written articles on the topic that I highly recommend.

Naked as virtue? They say themselves they do it because sex sells. There's a reason you won't see a fat, naked woman or any other body not considered fit for consumption. It's not the symbolism of nudity, it's "sex sells".

I would love if you gave an argument to the authors opinions rather than calling names, elevating the level of discourse about this issue would serve us all well.
